A Tale of Two Kickers

September 6, 2008

Game Report Posted: August 19, 2008 02:30

For once, kickers actually mattered. And for once, the CPU kicker screwed up.

The second low-scoring game of this dynasty was decided by a 48 yard Adam DeMarco FG with 1:11 remaining in the game. Syracuse would drive the ball into position for a potential game-winner of their own, but senior Patrick Shadle would miss the 51 yarder that would've given Syracuse the victory as time expired.

Army Black Knights: 2-0

Next game: vs. Akron (2-1, C OVR, C+ OFF, C+ DEF)

Injuries: Sophomore HB Pat Mealy was lost for the year with a broken elbow after posting 17 carries and 60 yards midway into the 3rd quarter. Mealy was believed to be on his way to a breakout season but is now unlikely to be on the field with the Black Knights until late spring.

Recruiting Update Week 2

September 1, 2008

Season Report Posted: August 15, 2008 01:57

Army has moved up in the eyes of most of the already interested prospects added to the board. With many ready for visits and greedy for scholarship offers.

Army was unable to seal any early commits from prospects who had Army ranked #1 on their lists after week one, but didn't lose any of the 33 prospects called this week due to academic standards.

BALLS!!

August 29, 2008

Game Report Posted: August 14, 2008 22:26

The Black Knights came through with a tough win against lowly Temple in their season opener on Friday in a game that was a joy to take part in.

"I love the defensive battles, you always cherish them when you get 'em, because with EA's ingenious Wide Open Gameplay West Point Pop Warner teams could put up 80 on USC. It's ridiculous."

Pat Mealy and Carson Williams helped manage the game and control the clock in this 21-17 thriller, but it was the defense that was the real MVP for Army. With a little over a minute to go Temple had the ball inside the Army 5, and with some not-so-intelligent CPU playcalling, Army held the Owls less than a yard short of the end zone when Temple was forced to go for it on 4th and 6.

"I'm really proud of the way we played today. We better enjoy this one, because I don't think we'll be winning a whole lot more this year."

Recruiting Update, WK 1

August 25, 2008

Season Report Posted: August 14, 2008 20:18

As if recruiting wasn't already difficult enough for Army, their rigorous academic restrictions are already taking a toll on this year's class.

Army left 6 players on the recruiting board without a phone call during week 1, so things could get even more grim next week.

Removed from Army's Recruiting board due to poor academics
** C Charles Wilkinson, LOCKED Very Low
** T Joe Williams, LOCKED Least
** TE Lance Herring, LOCKED Very Low
*** CB Colin Carter, LOCKED Very Low

Gun takes over at Army

August 11, 2008

Season Report Posted: August 12, 2008 01:15

Coach Golden Gun will be taking over the Army Black Knights in an NCAA 2009 dynasty very, very soon.

As soon as he can find a working set of rosters, that is.

After getting done with that business, it'll be on to bigger and better things like recruiting for a 1-star program that hasn't been to a bowl since '96. Fun.

The fireworks are about to go off, welcome to West Point!
