FAU 34, No. 12 LSU 14

Game Report Posted: May 17, 2011 06:18

Certainly the game of the year for FAU, maybe ever since it's a rare win over a top-25 foe. Clay Johnson gets it going early with a leaping catch-and-go over a cornerback for a 43-yard TD pass and a 10-0 lead. Spencer Brown hits 13 of 21 for 227 yards and a score.

Welcome to the SEC

Season Report Posted: May 11, 2011 21:03

Last season: 11-2, won the Sun Belt

Key returnees: QB Spencer Brown, TB Brandon Perry, WR Jeremy Sanders, DTs Jose Silva and Tom Anderson, DEs Bobby Watson and Brad Watkins, CBs Hassan Jordan, JR Warren, K Michael Wade

Key losses: Couple of offensive linemen, nobody noteworthy

The skinny: Be careful what you wish for, Owls fans, cuz here it comes: the Owls enter play in the SEC West, replacing Alabama (which was ravaged by a recruiting scandal that cost it carloads of scholarships. FAU has some players who are SEC-caliber talent, but the Owls might find they don't have the quality depth yet to beat the big boys every week. Soph QB Mark Bowling will take a redshirt year, so junior Spencer Brown, a starter as a freshman, steps back into the starting role. He'll have a better offensive line this time, led by freshman RT Jose Koch, and depth at tailback in Chad Weeks (600 yards two years ago), Brandon Perry (643 last year as a freshman) and freshman Terry Hayes.

FAU 23, Georgia 21

Game Report Posted: May 12, 2011 06:37

Owls commit four turnovers, including an interception thrown by dumbass freshman QB Erik Holt in the final five minutes that sets up a go-ahead TD by Georgia, But Holt redeems himself by leading a drive to the Dawgs 3-yard line, where Michael Wade kicks the winning field goal with seven seconds left.

FAU 33, Ole Miss 14

Game Report Posted: May 14, 2011 04:59

JJ Warren's 50-yard INT return for a TD early in the game sets the tone, but the bigger news happens in the poll during the day. A series of upsets, including one involving No. 1 Florida, vaults the Owls to No. 3 at the end of the weekend.

FAU 12, No. 11 Arkansas 7

Game Report Posted: May 11, 2011 06:48

The Owls mark their entry into the SEC with a nail-biter at home against the Hogs. Michael Wade kicks four field goals, Tom Anderson four of the Owls' five sacks and the defense holds Arkansas to 262 yards.
