In the second quarter, KSU was able to move down the field and scored on a short throw from QB Duke McGraw to WR Vernon Miller. Both teams fumbled later in the quarter, first by McGraw on a QB scramble and later by Stanford on the 1 yard line, forced by senior S Demontez Carlton and recovered in the endzone junior CB Ricky Evans. Both teams traded punts in the third quarter before Stanford moved down the field and tossed a 33-yard TD pass, tying the game at 10 apiece. KSU punted the ball away to end the quarter. On Stanford's ensuing fourth quarter possession, the QB's pass was picked off by Evans. After moving into Stanford territory, McGraw tossed a short screen to senior WR Brian Carptenter, who took it all the way to the endzone with 7:26 remaining. Stanford tok the next possesion down the field, scoring on a short run with 5:19 left in the game. KSU was able to retaliate, putting up an Irby 47-yard FG to retake the lead with 3:21 remaining. Stanford was able to tie it up with a FG with 40 seconds left. The next KSU possession ended with a McGraw scramble and fumble to end regulation. In overtime, KSU had to settle for a long FG after losing yardage on offense and Stanford was able to score a walk-off TD next.

#21 KSU falls to #7 OU

Game Report Posted: January 08, 2018 19:22

For the first time in coach McCully's tenure, KSU comes into a game ranked. Lost for the season are Jr. NB Seth Glenn and RSSr. RB Ryan Moore, both for the season. The Wildcats received the ball to open the game but Chris Matthews promptly fumbled the ball, and OU's first run ran for a 45 yard TD. On the next series, KSU's starting QB, Duke McGraw fell with an injury and was lost for the game. Backup RSSo. Trevor Ballou took over behind center. With KSU down 14-3 and barely two minutes in the second quarter, Ballou took the Wildcats down the field and tossed a 12 yard pass to RSSo. WR Justice Stacy. On the next posession, RSJr. CB Ricky Evans intercepted the second pass. Ballou quickly threw two passes to RSJr. WR Vernon Miller, including a 6 yard TD, tying the game at 17 apiece. Oklahoma was able to take the lead in the third quarter with a field goal but KSU was unable to score and punted the ball three times. After an exchange of TDs in the fourth quarter OU held a three-point lead. They were able to seal the victory with a TD with less than a minute to go.
