Golden Flashes Ground game key to victory

Game Report Posted: July 29, 2009 02:52

Imagine this, your heavily outmatched on paper. Opening kick off return, your starting Wide Receiver, Aaron Robinson goes down with a leg injury. Three plays later , Your Senior and Captain Running Back, Andre Flowers goes down with a foot injury. Its not looking good for the young Kent St football team. Its one of those things where you ' had to be here to believe it' as assistant coach said after the game. Both teams were neck and neck heading into the 4th Quarter when Sam Kirkland brought back a 55 yard INT with 1:08 left in the 3rd Q and they never looked back. After the game, Head Coach Gave the game ball to Dri Archer, who was the main reason why Kent St beat Boston College.

Golden Flashes Defense shows up big time.

Kent States defense is young, to say the least. So young that only 2 Seniors march on the Field for the now 2-0 Flashes. Kent St took a close 17-14 lead going into the half, but never looked back. Kent St had a couple Goal line stands, one leading to a Forced Fumble and a recovery, and one a INT. The Golden Flashes are now 2-0 on the season. Conference Play starts next week against 1-1 Ohio Bobcats.

Offense in the first half Defense in the second

Game Report Posted: August 01, 2009 02:58

The way the game started it, it looked as if the final score would be in triple digits, but that was not the case. Kent and NIU were neck and neck going into half with the score 28-24 with Kent winning. The players came out of the locker room with all intentions of keeping the 1st half pace. However, both teams defenses picked up the intensity by forcing each team to go 4 and out the whole 3rd quarter and into the 4th with the game still tied 28-24. With 6:06 reaming, Star runner Aaron Flowers beasted his way for a 23 yard TD, breaking many tackles on the way. Not to be out done though, NIU had marched to Kent St 10 yard line, where Mike Brown ran a 10 yard run, and a 2 pt conversion. The Golden Flashes milked down the clock to bring their record to 5-0 ( 2-0 )
