Blue Raiders hammer Army 63-6
Freshman Gary Collins got plenty of mileage out of his first collegiate start, throwing for 298 yards and 3 touchdown passes without an interception on 17 of 25 completions.
The MTSU defense held Army to a paltry 225 yards of total offense and force six turnovers.
The Blue Raiders struggled on offense in the first quarter, but gained traction late in the frame as Heath Moss scored from a yard out to cap a long drive. On the subsequent MTSU possession, Collins found Mitchell for a 77-yard touchdown pass as the defender couldn't keep up with Mitchell on the out route.
Things turned from bad to worse for Army when the turnovers started to set in, as Jason Fuller returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown pass, and the Blue Raiders scored 42 points in the second and third quarters.
The computer finished up the fourth quarter, accidentally putting some of the starters that I'd already benched under the shaky guise of "3rd string," and Mitchell scored a 72-yard touchdown as a result.
