Ducks Start With a Bang

The defending National Champions, The Florida Gators, walked into Autzen Stadium hoping to start their season off on the right foot. After marching down the field on their opening drive and putting up a quick 7-0 lead, it looked as if they were on their way.
However, Oregon returned the following kickoff 96 yards and never slowed down from there. The Ducks went on to put up 52 unanswered points in a rout of the #1 Gators. The domination was something Florida QB Tim Tebow had never experienced, "It's shocking to be honest. I never expected us to lose, especially not this way."

Tebow finished with an unprecedented five interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns by the defense. Linebacker Casey Mathews of Oregon was named the Ducks player of the game. He finished with 8 Takles, two of those which came for a loss, and a interception returned for a touchdown. The Oregon defense and running game led by Legarrette Blount(121 Yds, 1 TD) led to the Oregon QB, J. Masoli to only throwing the ball eight times the whole game.

While Florida was surely shocked, Oregon knew they had the capability of beating the stacked Gators. "We come into this season with the mindset we are good enough to win the National Championship," says Legarrette Blount, "This game might be shocking to the rest of the world, but not to us, we knew we were this good."

The Ducks travel to Durham, NC next week to take on the Duke Blue Devils. How will the Ducks handle sucess? We will find out next week.

Coming off a shocking, dominating upset of the #1 Gators, not many people were sure how the Ducks would respond. Well, they responded with a similar performance as the week before, as they throttled the Blue Devils 63-7.

Oregon started the game by driving straight down the field and taking a quick 7-0 lead on a 7 yard rush by Legarrette Blount. The following drive Duke strolled down the field with ease and eventually punched it in on a 29 yard pass play from Blue Devil QB Thaddeus Lewis. After that however, it was all Oregon.

For the second week in a row the Ducks went on to put up an insane amount of unanswered points as they scored 8 straight touchdowns to take charge of the Devils. Quarterback Jeremiah Masoli led Oregon's offense with a 244 yard, 4 touchdown performance. He ended the game with an amazing 253.4 passer rating. After not having to throw the ball much the previous week against Florida, it was important for Masoli to set the tone early passing the ball. Legarrette Blount also added 4 touchdowns and 144 yards on the ground to the offensive onslaught.

The Ducks met their challenge in their first road game of the year and return home next week to face the in-state rival Oregon State Beavers. The "Civil War" is a great battle every year that usually comes down to the wire. Both teams will come into the game looking to pad their 2-0 record and to grab more spotlight from the media.
