Pitt and Syracuse ACC Bound
January 2, 2009
Season Report Posted: October 03, 2011 00:19
After the season ended for the Pittsburgh Panthers and the Syracuse Orange, the two teams announced that they will be leaving the Big East and joining the ACC. This ended up being a three team move, as the ACC Atlantic lost Boston College and Wake Forest, and the Big East gained BC and Notre Dame.
Wake Forest will be playing the season as an Independent this season for football, but will remain an ACC Basketball team.
The Big East was stunned when the news broke, as this happened in 2004 when Miami, Virginia Tech and BC left, but now BC is joining again and long time Independent Notre Dame joined. All in all, the Big East is struggling, and as long as no further expansion takes place, they should be fine.
Pitt and WVU announced that they will continue to play their Backyard Brawl this year, as a Non - Conference game.
The Schedule for Pitt is to be announced here in the near future.
