Bama cruises past USM

Brodie Croyle threw for 188 yards and four touchdowns and Kenneth Darby accounted for 189 yards on the ground and two scores as Alabama (2-0) eased past Southern Miss (1-1).

Alabama has now outscored its first two opponents 56-10 in the second half, which includes a 42-0 margin in the fourth quarter.

Darby has rushed for 290 yards in the first two games of the season on just 29 carries. Croyle seems to have found his favorite target early this year, hitting Tyrone Prothro on three more touchdowns against the Golden Eagles. The duo has accounted for five connections so far this season.

"We worked together hard this summer getting our timing down," said Prothro. "I have found gaps in the defense and Brodie's throws have been there."

The Tide defense played well again, limiting Southern Miss to a mere 128 yards of total offense. The Eagles' lone touchdown came on a fourth down desperation heave from the Alabama 36 late in the third quarter.

Alabama will travel to South Carolina next Saturday for the first time since 2000.
