Cornhuskers Drill Bluffs

Game Report Posted: August 16, 2009 22:36

A ranked Nebraska handled the Golden Lions easily, but lost their top running back for 5 weeks due to an ankle injury. Both Thoong and Uhura got knocked out of the game with minor injuries in the first half, so Pinales got a lot of reps. SS Lance Bredon also left the game early with an injury. Nebraska's dominance was due to its overwhelming O-line, but they also had two 92-ovr halfbacks who ran roughshod over us.

Lions Maul Huskies

Blowout. Stat game. 10 min qtr.

Hoosiers Whoop Lions

Game Report Posted: August 18, 2009 03:16

Just a plain old ass kicking, led by IU quarterback Skyler Higdon. The man was superman today, dominating the game from start to finish, passing, running, asserting his will on UAPB.

Lions and Sooners

Game Report Posted: September 08, 2009 03:24

Could Pine Bluff handle the heat of a Big XII power broker? What a game.

First CCG in Dynasty History

Game Report Posted: September 06, 2009 17:15

Pine Bluff hosted UTEP in a tense game. The Miners appeared to have the game in hand when they went up 24-14, but safety Morris McConnell recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass, both in UTEP territory, to set up the tieing and then the winning scores.

Lions Over Pirates

Game Report Posted: August 19, 2009 18:44

Pine Bluff slowly exerted its will over ECU today, but the UAPB O-line committed 7 holding calls. That's got to be a new record. (Slider still at 10%). Meanwhile, of the 7 ECU sacks, I know at least 2 were coverage sacks in man-under, safety-over coverage. Four were on secondary blitzes, and one (Martin) was just a great individual effort.

Lions Calm Canes

Game Report Posted: August 19, 2009 21:53

It started out as a tossup but ended up as a blowout, thanks to a methodical approach but UAPB and turnovers coughed up by TU.

Lions over Herd

Game Report Posted: August 27, 2009 02:10

The Golden Lions beat the Herd but it was not the kind of game that is fun and relaxing. In the driving rain in Pine Bluff, receivers seemed to get alligator arms at the worst times. But the PB talent eventually overcame the failures as Mike Musick (1 TD), Jim Job Watson (1 TD) and Ali Washington (5 rec) contributed to the cause.

Bluff over Blaze

Game Report Posted: August 23, 2009 20:26

Mike Musick set the single game receptions record in style with 14 catches and 3 TDs.

Golden Lions over Dirt Colored Cougars

Game Report Posted: August 24, 2009 16:32

Houston has given us trouble in the past and lead the series 2-1. They play without an offensive tackle and a tight end. It's raining like hell in the Bluff and the uniforms get nice and muddy.

Although turnover totals were ridiculous, Thoong led the GLs to a dominant first half that put the game out of reach. Backups in the backfield didn't do much after halftime but they didn't need to.

Wave No Problem for Lions, This Time

Game Report Posted: August 29, 2009 20:02

Pine Bluff started slow but eventually overcame the pull of the wave in shutting out the hometown heroes.

Down Go the Zips

Game Report Posted: August 30, 2009 06:19

Pine Bluff continued its winning ways with a home win over the Zips. The seniors got a fine send-off, led by senior receiver and four year starter Mike Musick, whose 6th and 7th receptions on the day broke the Pine Bluff single season receptions record held for the last six years by Wiley Post. Both of those record breakers went for touchdown scores. After the game, the seniors congregated at midfield and took a knee as the coaching staff presented each of them a team football signed by everyone.

Bluff and Stuff

Game Report Posted: August 28, 2009 16:38

The Bluff returns to the Top 25 to take on a Memphis team whose already questionable defense has been whacked with injuries to two starters. The Tigers are really, really bad. Their best offensive player is senior receiver Rob Wagner, 80 ovr.

It's a clear day at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

And it's a defensive slugfest. Pine Bluff makes fewer mistakes and wins.

Bluffies Wear Down Knights

Game Report Posted: August 21, 2009 19:52

The Golden Lions wore down the Golden Knights in a game that was more brass than gold. The teams combined for 7 turnovers. The main story was the attrition to UCF's offensive line: 5 of the top roster o-linemen were out with injury or suspension. That enabled the PBU front four to make some plays.
