Pokes Pine Away

September 18, 2018

Game Report Posted: November 29, 2009 07:01

The Cowpokes fell in the final minutes of the game to the visiting Aereoplane as senior Lumpkin threw 3 ghastly interceptions, one to MLB Derek Balaban in the middle zone, setting Pine Bluff up for the go-ahead field goal, another to safety Jason Nolen who returned the pick down the sideline for a touchdown, and a third over the top to corner Gene Enloe who had position on his receiver.

But before that last minute meltdown it looked to be Oklahoma State's ballgame. The Cowboys controlled the tempo most of the way.

Pine Bluff matches up well against the Yellow Jackets if you average the two rosters, but the GT first string is juggernaut quality.

Memphis Dropped over a Bluff

November 13, 2018

Game Report Posted: January 20, 2010 19:37

This game went nothing like I expected as Pine Bluff's Aereobone shredded the Memphis defense. And the great Memphis offense rung up a no-sale on the register.

Flow Out

Season Report Posted: November 29, 2009 05:06

Senior linebacker and defensive captain Nathan Flow has been suspended for 4 games for academic reasons. The duration suggested by the university's athletic director was 2 quarters.

In other news, Pine Bluff continues to narrow its focus in on prospective players to offensive linemen with clean backgrounds. 4* C John Jackson, 5'11, 294, from Houston, Texas is now at 25%. 4* HB Lionel Cross has been dropped due to disciplinary concerns. 4* RT Quentin Huffman, 6'6, 315, from Pecos, Texas, has risen to 31%. 3* C Thomas Gandy, 6'2, 285, from Brownfield, Texas, has risen to 30%. And 1* FB Eli Duncan, 5'11, 255, of Natchitoches, Louisiana, holds steady at 14%.

Pine Bluff Does the Tulsa Turnaround

Game Report Posted: December 14, 2009 23:15

PBU went crazy and played this game in the Army playbook with almost no preparation. And it worked. The Bluff took the wind out of the Hurricane's sails both offensively and defensively.

Bluffies Lose a Hard One

Game Report Posted: December 10, 2009 03:11

Just when Pine Bluff seemed to be on the verge of the great comeback with a minute left, the o-line went fragile and gave up two consecutive sacks to end the hope.

3-2 Pine Bluff at 3-2 Central Florida

Game Report Posted: December 21, 2009 18:42

The Knights were ready for the flexbone, and their defense completely shut it down stone cold. Their offense, however, led by halfback Demetrius Arnold and quarterback Jay Hunter, was solid. UCF thumped PBU like a flat knife.

Bluffs and Blazers

October 16, 2018

Game Report Posted: December 26, 2009 07:25

Prior to the game, junior DT Joe Mitchell was suspended for the remainder of the season due to academic problems. He had been the #1 DT on version 09 but fell to #3 on version 10.

UAB (3-4) has won games against Florida Atlantic, Rice, and SMU, but has dropped to Mississippi State, Troy, UL Monroe, and Marshall. The Blazers seem to score better in other teams' stadiums. Two o-line prospects are on the sidelines in Pine Bluff Stadium.

The 'Plane got rolling on the first drive and put the game away by halftime. After the break it was supersim mode all the way. One commit, a 3* Center from Brownfield, Texas. We promised him jersey 63. We refused to promise jersey 5 to the Tackle prospect.

It took every tick of the clock but Pine Bluff's cornfed defense held down Fresno State's octane offense just long enough for the win.

Domers over Bluffies

August 27, 2018

Game Report Posted: November 26, 2009 02:21

Notre Dame, widely ridiculed for accepting a MAC invitation, nevertheless looked like a championship contender in defeating C-USA opponent Pine Bluff, 42-24. But the Bluffies made a good accounting of themselves, only to blow the opportunity time and again with turnovers at the goal line. The principal culprit? QB Mario Pinales. Blame it on his line if you like, but even when Mario had time for his checkdowns he underthrew his intended receiver at the worst possible times - twice when he had a man open in the end zone and a throw to the outside shoulder would have been a score, once when no one stood between the defender and the opposite end zone.

Worse news for Bluffies fans, Brent Golden came on with a chance to tie the game in the 3rd quarter but after leading PBU in range fell with a broken elbow, a season ending injury.
