Turnovers kept the Blue Devils in this one early, but Pine Bluff eventually pulled away.

Bluff over Blazers 25-17

Game Report Posted: June 26, 2010 05:10

Pine Bluff built a 25-0 lead and held on as UAB scored three times to make the scoreboard interesting.

The #1 Guard committed after the game. Jack Owens, 4*, 6-3, 347, Kilgore, Texas. 5.17 forty, A+ awareness, 26.2 vert, 495 bench, 680 squat, good potential, good discipline. Coach Prestige. He asked for #86 but I didn't promise it. I threw a lot of resources at him because three other top-caliber O-linemen rolled up a Poor discipline rating. I don't need that.

The Lions changed to a 3-4 defensive look this week to get more of our great linebackers on the field. If anything, the 3-4 caused more sacks than the 4-2-5. Wendell Considine had a whale of a game with 7 sacks.

After the first quarter, the Bluff had little problem with Hawaii. Turnovers were crazy on this sunny day.

Pine Bluff edges Georgia in the conference opener.

Game Report Posted: June 18, 2010 02:15

It's the first meeting between the Lions and the Tigers. Both teams are B+ overall but LSU edges Pine Bluff A to B+ offensively. In some respects this is a battle for recruits as both teams tend to look in the same areas for talent.

It's pouring rain at the start of the game and Mike Perry immediately loses the football on a gang tackle by LSU. Tigers ball at the Pine Bluff 15.

Pine Bluff gets well at Vandy's expense. Aereoplane scores three touchdowns in first quarter to snuff Commodore hopes.

Bluff at Florida

Game Report Posted: July 03, 2010 00:07

First meeting between these two teams.

It could be a long season for Florida. Their starting qb guided the Gators easily to a TD on their first possession but was knocked out on their second possession - broken jaw, 11 weeks. Their backup Tim Berry was not nearly as effective. Special teams and defenses dominated the game.

Bluff over Hogs

Game Report Posted: July 09, 2010 03:20

Pine Bluff survived a late Arkansas rally to keep the AereoPig trophy in Pine Bluff for the second straight year.

Two prospects were in the stands. One of them committed after the game.

3* G#2 Joey Merrick, Avondale, Louisiana
5.09 forty
A+ awr
26.2 vert
430 bench
655 squat
good potential
average discipline
Clearly impressed by our heritage and prestige.

Bluff and Vols

Game Report Posted: July 13, 2010 22:30

First meeting for these two teams... and Pine Bluff's defense dominated the Volunteers. Tennessee self-destructed in the second half when it had opportunities to make a game of it.

Ty Cooper was injured and will miss the next 3 weeks but Jarhead pretty much has taken over the offense by now anyway.

After the game, 4* OG prospect James Graves committed.
Lake Jackson, TX, 4*, 6-5, 315, rank #2
5.17 forty, A+ awr, 27 vert, 490 press, 640 squat, good potential, average discipline
He committed due to location.

Lions and Wildcats

Game Report Posted: July 17, 2010 21:49

First meeting between the Golden Lions and the Wildcats. I think it's going to be tough because that 3-3-5 always gives us fits.

Dogs and Lions

Game Report Posted: July 25, 2010 03:15

Rainy evening in Pine Bluff and MSU is hungry for a win. Jarrod takes the first snap inside the LE for a 21 yard ramble. Two plays later it's Wrye on a toss sweep to the house!

On State's first possession, Nolen hurdles a cut block, catches up to the QB Bowers on the opposite side of the field, smashes him to the turf for a sack and knocks the ball loose. And stands over him staring down into his puppy dog eyes. This man is Heisman worthy.

Late in Q1, MSU got a break when PR Shane Vice wiggled once too often and dropped the ball at our 30. Power running got the pig to our 11. Then pressure from Nolen caused Bowers to throw a wounded duck out into the coverage. MLB Jose Miera caught the pass at our 1. A Bulldog WR caught him at our 30, but Miera shook out of that and continued to our 47 where he was tackled from behind by #18 Garrett.

Jason Nolen again had a big game with 8 tackles, 6 for loss, 5 sacks, and 2 forced fumbles. He'll need to keep that up to stay in front of the Heisman crowd.

After the game, Pine Bluff received its final commit of the 2020 campaign. The most highly regarded OT prospect in the nation, Tom Lee, 6-3, 300, from Dumas, Texas.

5.17 forty
A+ awareness
28.6 vert
455 bench
720 squat
good potential
average discipline

We didn't promise him playing time next year, but he committed anyway. Lee joins the three OG prospects who signed with us. Next year will be a rebuilding season on the OL but the year after should be good.

Week 12 Final Signed Prospects Report

Weekly Report Posted: July 25, 2010 05:35

Pine Bluff went into the 2020 campaign knowing it would lose four starters on its o-line to graduation. Accordingly, the Golden Lions targeted a host of offensive linemen during the season. While the Bluff did not land everyone on its wish list -- Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, and Nebraska skimmed some great talent -- PBU did land four gentlemen it can live with.

5* OT Tom Lee 6-3, 300, Dumas, Texas G/A
4* OG Jack Owens 6-3, 347, Kilgore, Texas G/G
4* OG James Graves 6-5, 315, Lake Jackson, Texas G/A
3* OG Joey Merrick 6-2, 315, Avondale, Louisiana G/A

Lions and Tigers (Oh My?)

Game Report Posted: August 08, 2010 17:58

#12 Pine Bluff at Death Valley for its first contest with the 7-4 Clemson Tigers. This game was set up with Pine Bluff taking South Carolina's place in the SEC East and apparently inheriting the rivalry. The Bluff will face #4 Ole Miss in the SEC CCG after this is over. South Carolina meanwhile has won the C-USA East and will face Tulsa in the C-USA CCG.

Jason "Jay No" Nolen knocked the Tiger starter, Cunningham, out of the game in the first half. He also made a big sack to force a Clemson punt, and a stop on 3rd down in Pine Bluff territory. Clemson did a fake punt run after that play but cover man Jeremiah Johnson stuffed the run short of the sticks for a turnover on downs.

The Andre Wrye Show! would end with Wrye having run for 311 yards, 4 TDs, and a new Pine Bluff single game rushing record.

In retrospect, reviewing the game stats, Pine Bluff caught a break when Clemson's top HB (96) Keith Fanene was injured on the kickoff return. He was out for the game. His backup Lowery (91) was damn good though.

Pine Bluff Contains Penn State

The Golden Lions kept the Nittany Lions hemmed in all day long with the old Bluffie strategy of defense and turnovers.

The New Empire and the Old Rebel Alliance battled it out in the Georgia Dome under cloudless, starless, in fact skyless skies.
