UCF Falls Short of Completing Monster 4th Quarter Comeback: 31- 28
All hope was lost. The fans were going crazy. The Knights had zilch in the way of momentum. And then something happened that the #6 Gators didn't expect. UCF decided to put up a fight.
An unstoppable Chris Leak aerial assault led the Florida Gators to 21-0 halftime lead. After adding 10 more points before the end of the 3rd, it appeared as though it may be time to bring the scrubs in.
However, UCF tacked on 3 yard Moffett to Thornton TD pass with 5 seconds left in the quarter, and it seemed to spark a hope on the Central Florida bench.
After forcing a 3 and out, Moffett threw another beautiful TD strike, this time connection on a 67-yard bomb to Mike Walker. After a Chris Leak fumble that gave the UCF the ball inside the Gators twenty, Kevin Smith took in a 17-yard TD off a well-executed option. With 13 tics left on the clock, Walker nabbed another TD, this one a 40 yarder.
But it all proved too little, too late, as UCF could not nab an onside kick attempt and FLorida held on to win, 31- 28.
Injury Notes:
-Back up Free Safety Keith Williams left the game in the first quarter with a leg injury. Early projections say he will be out for 1 week.
