Chippewas Dominate Southern Miss, Lobotzke, Win 38-6

A familiar face returned to Kelly/Shorts stadium Saturday, as former Offensive Coordinator and first year Southern Miss Head Coach Steed Lobotzke brought his Golden Eagles to Mt. Pleasant. Lobotzke had to be wondering if he made the right move as the Chippewas rolled the Golden Eagles 38-6. CMU held a demanding 28-3 lead at halftime and added 10 more 2nd half points en route to their easy win.

The Chippewas utilized a balanced offense to earn their victory rushing for 130 yards and passing for 216 yards. "It was a real solid game for us offensively," said Carlson. "We always want to be balanced and I think we did a great job of that today. The run game opened up things for Cooper and he did a great job of taking what he could get. He has developed into a great QB entering his third year and he should only get better as the season goes on." Rush completed 17/19 passes for 216 yards and 3 TD's.Andrew Flory caught 4 passes for 97 yards and 1 TD. Sophomore WR Eric Cooper caught 6 passes for 55 yards and 1 TD.

The Chippewas improved to 2-0 on the season and moved up to #21 in the rankings. CMU travels to Syracuse next week to face the Orange.
