FYI State upsets No. 2 Michigan

Howell, MI - What a way to notch the first victory in school history.

Newcomer FYI State University Lighting upset the No. 2 ranked Michigan Wolverines Saturday at the Cannon Bowl, 28-14.

Freshman sensation quarterback Nick Barnowski led the way for the Lightning, leading in all statistical categories. Barnowski went 16-27, passing for 278 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball effectivly, racking up 43 yards and another touchdown.

"It was a good win for our school," said freshman running back Jordan Hawkins, who ran for 36 yards on three attempts, his longest being a touchdown.

The Lightning run a option offense, with about 70% pass and 30% run. The Lightning play in Howell, Michigan, at the school's Cannon Bowl.

This was the first of many tough games on the FYI St. schedule, with LSU, Texas, and USC in the up-coming weeks.
