Newberry Academy-John Cooper played three years of varsity football at Newberry Academy in Newberry,SC from 2002-2004...started every game at running back and outside linebacker for Eagles 8-man squad during sophomore and junior seasons...had 152 carries for 1,121 yards and 63 touchdowns as running back, had 137 career tackles as outside linebacker. Member of SCISA "A 8-Man" all-state team in 2003 and 2004. Cooper also played basketball and baseball for Eagles. In three years of varsity basketball, Cooper had 318 career points with an average of 18.6 points per game. Named to SCISA "A" all-state team. In three years of varsity baseball, Cooper had .286 batting average for 14 home runs and 106 hits. Named to SCISA "A" all-state baseball team during all three of his varsity seasons, named SCISA "A-Region II" player of the year.
Personal-John Russell Cooper was born April 16,1988 in Newberry,SC. Sone of Inez and Buck Cooper. Has two younger siblings, brother, Brian and sister, Emily, who both attend GPA. Brian will play JV Baseball for Grizzlies, while Emily will cheerlead and play softball for GPA's middle school squads. Cooper enjoys hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, and taxidermy. Cooper will also play varsity baseball for Grizzlies. |
