Huskers Down The Bandits

September 4, 2010

Game Report Posted: October 06, 2010 09:19

Well The Bandits hung tough for four quarters but just didn't have enough to finish off the Cornhuskers as they came back from 10 points down to win 38-34. Two touchdown passes from Taylor Martinez to B. Kinnie in the fourth quarter helped the #9 ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers escape against first year Division competitor, MB A&T River Bandits.

Run Over and Run Through

September 18, 2010

Game Report Posted: October 09, 2010 09:11

On the Wisconsin first offensive play of the game, Scott Tolzien was intercepted by Matt Hendrix as he attempted to connect with his favorite receiver in Nick Toon. As Toon tries to bring Hendrix down, Hendrix fumbles and Wisconsin recovers. That play set the tone of the game as John Clay had his way today with the River Bandit defense for a total of 175 yards rushing.

The Bandit offense out gained Wisconsin but made too many mistakes or just didn't make the plays needed to knock off the #7 team in the nation.

Inaugural Season to Kickoff!

September 4, 2010

Season Report Posted: October 06, 2010 08:04

The River Bandits of MB A&T are set to begin their first season of football ever on the Division 1 level with Jamaal Barnes at the helm. The Bandits should be a competitive team in the WAC behind a Pistol offense directed by QB RJ Gilmore. Gilmore will have some excellent targets to spread the ball to in receivers Bernard Dobbs and William Jacques as well as tight end Tyler Carson. Lining up behind the talented QB is freshman tailback Brian Evans, who is poised to have a 1,000 yard season behind a rugged offensive line led by sophomore center Ryan McGuire. The defense, led by MLB Mike Seals and ROLB Blake Riley, will be a stout unit. The secondary will be controlled by safeties Marcello Newton and Mike Weddle. The kicking duties will be held down by sophomore Rasheed Parker. In the special teams department keep your eyes open for Adam McGill who is a speedster with the ability to break a long return on any play.

The only problem for the River Bandits is a exceedingly tough non-conference scheduled highlighted by road tilts at Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Wisconsin. If the Bandits can make it through that onslaught it just might be smooth sailing through the WAC schedule. Get ready for the first annual Border Battle between the MB A&T River Bandits and the Vikings of Vidalia State set for week 11.

Here's to the kickoff of what will soon become an elite program!

FIRST WIN IN HISTORY

September 25, 2010

Game Report Posted: October 12, 2010 05:33

MB A&T University achieved its first win today behind the spectacular play of running back Brian Evans who recorded his first 100+ yard game of the season. It wasn't without a cost though as Bernard Dobbs was lost for the season with a broken collarbone on a first half kickoff return.
