Sioux Go Bowling

December 14, 2009

Season Report Posted: July 26, 2009 23:05

Following the great season that UND has had, winning the WAC championship, winning 9 of 12 games and defeating Boise State on the blue turf.
They have earned a bowl bid in the Hawaii Bowl where they will take on the Houston Cougars. This is a major accomplishment for UND as it is their first year in the FBS and to make a bowl game, let alone win their conference, is something not seen before.
"We had key wins against Hawaii and Boise State. Those were two tough teams we were really worried about in our WAC schedule. Our guys exceeded expectations and I am proud to have them on my team." Coach Mussman said following the announcement that they made the Hawaii Bowl, which is played at 8:00 PM on December 24.

UND Shocks Boise State

November 27, 2009

Game Report Posted: July 26, 2009 22:13

UND has won the WAC after defeating Boise State, @Boise, 20-13. The Sioux got off to a rough start turning the ball over on their first 2 drives but were able to stop Boise from doing much on offense as well. Noah Dombrovski had the go ahead touchdown that was a 53 yard reception.
Boise was restricted offensively thanks to some excellent defending by UND.
UND has secured a bowl birth, however they do not know which bowl as of yet. They went 9-3(7-1).
Coach Mussman on the season:
"We had the best first season ever. Many doubted us in this game against Boise State, saying that our only wins have been against 'creampuff' teams. With this victory I think we were able to silence those critics and prove that we are a true force to be reckoned with. I look forward to preparing for our bowl game."
Defensive Tackle Ty Boyle broke the single season and single game sack records for UND, with 16 and 4 respectively.

November 7, 2009

Game Report Posted: July 26, 2009 04:16

San Jose State 35, UND 10
The Sioux headed to San Jose to take on the Spartans, in what many thought would be a blowout. Well, that is, a blowout by UND. But the last place team(SJSU) in the WAC showed up to play against the top team. UND could not stop their rushing attack, something that has not been a problem up until this point as UND has one of the top defenses against the run in the country.
Carl Hanson scored the only touchdown for UND on a kickoff return, the first special teams TD of the year for the Sioux.
"I think we underestimated them and they took advantage of that. It's embarrassing, but at the same time I think we were due for a game like this, everything was going too well for us." Said Coach Chris Mussman.
This was UND's first WAC loss. Their record is now 6-3, 4-1.
