Not Ready for Primetime

The Wildcats had been on a roll. They were 7-2, 5-0 in Big Ten Play with only 3 games remaining in the season. In only Coach Andrew Taylor's second year of coaching this team, he had turned them around to Big Ten title contenders, as they were only 1 of 3 teams with undefeated Conference records; Ohio St. and Michigan were the others.

But, it turns out the Wildcats weren't quite ready for primetime just yet.

At the hands of the Michigan Wolverines, all the dreams of a Big Ten Title were all but completely dashed from the minds of any Northwestern player or fan.

The Wildcats played well against the Wolverines, only allowing 22 points to the 7th leading offense in the country. However, Northwestern's lack of a sustainable offense doomed them in the end.

The game was ugly to watch; 8 turnovers between the 2 teams, including 7 interceptions. Ryan Mallet thew 4 of his own to go along with the 2 TD passes he threw as well. CJ Bacher threw 2 before he went down with a bruised rib and he would sit out the remainder of the game. Andrew Brewer played effectively, but also threw 1 interception of his own. He did keep the Wildcats in the game late with a 2 yard TD scamper.

Prince Kwateng, who had 14 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 1 sack, was named player of the game.
