Aztecs Tab Bowden Trio To Lead Program

San Diego, Ca. -- Usually when a college tabs a football coach to become their new head coach they do so with little thought to the coaches extended family. Well San Diego State hired a coach on Friday and in the process hired his two brothers to help him turn a once proud program around. Terry Bowden was named the third Aztec head coach in three years and he brought a lot of help with him.

Bowden who is most well known for being the son of Legendary Florida State coach Bobby Bowden has been a college football coach before. Most recently at Auburn where his team went undefeated in his first year but failed to play for the national championship because the Tigers were on probation. For the past several years Bowden has been an analyst for Saturday morning college football shows and various internet sites.

While Terry Bowden will be the head coach of the San Diego State football team his brothers Jeff and Tommy will be standing right besides him. Jeff has been hired on as the new Aztec offensive coordinator, a position that he last held at Florida State under his father. As we all know that situation did not turn out well as father was forced to get rid of son after a couple of subpar years for the Florida State offense.

On defense recently fired Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden takes the reigns. Tommy's teams at Clemson were marred by high expectations and low productivity, so after a long stint with the Tigers he was let go. Tommy comes to SDSU with a new outlook on coaching and hopes his defense will quickly be what the Aztec football program is known for around the country.

Will this trio of brothers be able to turn around what has been called a sleeping giant in the land of college football? Or is this too much of a good thing to work right? Only time will tell.
