Can Southern Miss reign supreme in the CUSA this year?

This year Southern Miss is hoping to crash the BCS as any other MID MAJOR program does. However, the only difference in Southern Miss and most other MID MAJORS is that the Golden Eagles have a realistic chance at doing so. With Austin Davis and Damion Fletcher in the backfield and DeAndre Brown posing a 6 foot 6 target for Davis, things are looking good. With tough road games at Northwestern, Kansas and Rutgers, the Golden Eagles are confident in capturing the C-USA title this year and making it to a bowl game. The BCS is a far fetched dream but a realistic one. Only time will tell.
Golden Eagles top the Wildcats in a tight one

In a game where Northwestern was the favorite the Golden Eagles did not back down for a minute. The game between Northwestern and Southern Miss was a great one to watch. The final score was 28-16 in favor of the Golden Eagles but was much closer than the score indicates. The first quarter was an defensive showcase after a quick drive for Southern Miss to put them up 7-0. The second quarter was another defensive showcase but a PICK 6 by the Wildcats tied to game up and then a late field goal put them in the lead at halftime. The 3rd quarter was when the Golden Eagles kicked into high gear with 3 straight touchdown passes by Austin Davis to make the score 28-10 at the end of the 3rd. The 4th quarter was a thriller as the Wildcats were in the red zone 3 times and inside the 5 yard line 2 times but the Golden Eagles shut them down and the final score ended up in a 28-16 final as Northwestern converted a hail mary as time expired.
