New Coach Comes to Help VSU Make Transition
January 1, 2010
Weekly Report Posted: December 28, 2009 21:37
After 5 years on the job, former coach David Dean has been fired. For whatever reason, they kept him from 2005-2009.
Being located near Florida, did not hurt them too bad. The Blazers do have some talent on the team. They however had 2 wins in 5 years for a record of 2-53.
The Blazers had to play so many top 25 teams to make enough money to help out on the recruiting budget. They were 0-29 against the top 25.
The new coach will take over VSU is another relative unknown. They had no money for the program to make a decent hire. They will pay the new coach a base salary of $45,000. If by some chance they are led to the National Championship, the coaches salary will become in the competitive $2.5 million range. Bowl games and whatnot will help bump up the salary to about $500k.
The assistant coaches will be making $30,000 a piece. They are hoping that the new coach can get them to at least a bowl so they can start to enjoy the money that goes along with putting in long hours.
Good luck to VSU, new coach and his staff!
