Huskies Squeak One Out Agains Spartans

Seattle, WA (AP) - The Huskies (1-0) managed to slip by in their season opener, and career opener for Head Coach Corey Smith, against San Jose State by the score of 32-27. "I think that our guys are still in the stage that they are thinking about what they have to do in the new system that I have implemented, and haven't gotten to the point where they can just react." Said Smith.

Husky Jr. place kicker Michael Braunstein was U-Dub's savior in the ball game being true on 6 of 7 FG attempts (making the first 6), including a long of 49 yards. "That kid had ice running through is vains the entire game, you can't ask for a better performance out of your kicker." Said Smith.

The story of the game (and almost of the Husky's death) was the play of SJSU's MLB Matt Castelo. The Junior made his presence known the entire game, terroizing Husky ball carriers racking up 16 solo tackles and forcing 4 Husky Fumbles. "We came into the game definitely underestimating that guy. I can definitely admit that. We are going to have gameplan a little harder and be prepared for players like that in the future." Said Smith.

Next up the Dawgs travel to Norman, OK to take on an Adrian Peterson-less Sooners team. The stud HB was injured in week one, went down with a strained back and is estimated to miss three weeks. Nonetheless, it will be a serious test for the Dawgs.
