Footscray's own Western Bulldogs, have been finally succeeded in their quest to attain division 1 FBS status, the culmination of a long arduous journey that begun 15 years ago, back in lowly division III.

The challenge doesn't end here, however. The talent level at Whitten Oval is a long way behind their opponents, with the possible exceptions being the also newly promoted San Dimas, Essendon Grammar and Venice Beach.

In order for the Dogs, along with the other 3 FBS neophytes, to complete their promotion process, unfortunately due to a mixture of uncertain financial times, NCAA penalties and university apathy, we bid farewell to former FBS teams, FIU, Army and Temple while the planned promotion of Western Kentucky had to be put on hold as the university encounters severe financial strain.

The Dogs will really be keying in on their games againstg the new teams as their main source of wins in the year, as they only have 58 scholarship players on the roster, and will find it hard to compete with the other schools until a few recruiting classes have maybe their way out to Footscray.
