'Bama blows out Paladins 84-0.
Tuscaloosa,(AL.)- Whenever a Division II [Bowl Sub-Division] school plays the number one ranked team in Division I football, the outcome can never be good. That was the case Saturday night when the top ranked Tide of Alabama literally rolled over Furman 84-0.
"This was probably the best game I've had all year," said the preseason All-American Lee Nelson. Nelson had a field day on both offense and special teams. Nelson scored two receiving touchdowns and three punt return touchdowns. He also made history. Lee Nelson broke three school records against Furman: All-time leading recieving yards, all-time leading recieving touchdowns, and all-time leading catches.
Joe White also broke the all-time leading Passing touchdowns as well. Even the defense made history. Left outside linebacker Jeremy Clarett, broke the all-time sacks in one game. Clarett now holds the record at 6 sacks in one game.
Overall, five Alabama football records were broken, and Saturday was truely a day of history.
