Chippewas Win First Matchup Against Red Raiders 49-14

The Chippewas and Red Raiders had never faced each other on the football field and Texas Tech may never want to face them again. The Chippewas used a 22 point 2nd quarter to enter halftime with a 28-7 lead of Texas Tech. The Chippewas would not let up as the scored 21 2nd half points on their way to the 49-14 win.

The win improved CMU's Big 12 record to 3-0 and Carlson was happy with his teams performance. "I'm not a big fan of having to jump back and forth between conference and non-conference play, but that is what we were faced with this week. I thought the guys practiced hard and were focused on Texas Tech. Aaron continues to impress me every week, although I know he'll be the first to admit he wants both of those INT's back. We're happy to be heading into a bye week with a win and we'll use the time off to get healthy and focus on Cal in two weeks."

The aforementioned Smith completed 21 of 33 passes for 266 yards and 4 TD's. Smith did a lot of damage with his legs as well, rushing for 216 yards and 3 TD's. Mike Lee led all receivers with 9 catches for 104 yards and 3 TD's. WR Nate Duncan caught 4 passes for 68 yards and 1 TD.

The Chippewas 4-0 (3-0) are off next weekend. The Cal Golden Bears will visit Kelly/Shorts Stadium in two weeks.
