Buffaloes Defense Comes Up Large
It wasn't as pretty as Coach Magee would've liked, but the Colorado Buffaloes were able to take down the Colorado State Rams 21-13, winning the Rocky Mountain Showdown.
Colorado State was driving in the redzone with under a minute left, down by eight, but a defensive four and out put an end to the drive and the game.
The Buffaloes defense controlled the game, recording seven sacks, three turnovers, and holding Colorado State to 1 for 10 on 3rd downs. The Rams managed just 232 yards of total offense.
The only touchdown for the Rams came when QB Cody Hawkins fumbled a QB option, only to watch it go 39 yards the other way.
The offense was very slopping today, losing the ball four times. Freshman QB Hawkins threw two interceptions to go with his fumble.
HB Hugh Charles ran 27 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns, of 27 and 48 yards. Outside of those two runs he was hit hard at the line, showing a huge sign of inconsistency for the Buffaloes. Charles also caught a 12 yard touchdown pass to record all three TD's for the Buffaloes.
