Season Wrap-up

Season Report Posted: February 03, 2010 01:04

The Noles first season in the SEC was a memorable one going 13-1 while winning the conference and the Sugar Bowl. The high points were many including Kendall Smith winning LB of the year and the most All Americans in the nation. The one loss to LSU kept us out of the national title but with many of the team returning including the entire OL, QB, and RB on offense the Noles will look to improve next season. RB Jermaine Thomas set the FSU rushing record breaking Warrick Dunn's mark that he set in 1996. Now on to recruiting!

Welcome to the SEC!

Welcome to the SEC is exactly what LSU said to Florida State when they beat them 20-0 this past Saturday. After being harassed all day to the tune of 5 sacks Christian Ponder struggled mightily going 18 of 36 with 5 interceptions 2 of which were returned for touchdowns. The FSU defense did all it could do but was just put in horrible situations by the offense all day.

FSU gets first ever SEC win with big 3rd Quarter!

Game Report Posted: January 29, 2010 22:20

The day started with a long drive from the FSU offense that ended in an interception returned 102 yards for a touchdown. The day would get better though. After exchanging field goals FSU added 1 more with 4 seconds left in the half. The second half belonged to FSU in every facet. Two touchdowns passes by Christian Ponder, one a 68 yard bomb to tight end Jabaris Little and a 19 yard pass to Rod Owens, would extend the FSU lead. Just before the fourth quarter Korey Mangum would return an interception 29 yards for a score. The last touchdown of the day would come from running back Jermaine Thomas with a 15 yard run.

Noles shut down rival Clemson!

Game Report Posted: January 30, 2010 01:17

In one of the most dominate defensive performances of the season FSU held Clemson to just 113 yards of total offense (48 on the ground and 65 through the air). Clemson was an abysmal 0-11 on 3rd down and could not convert either of their 2 fourth down tries. Their only points came in the 3rd quarter off a Christian Ponder interception that was turned into a field goal. The Noles scored on their first drive of the game when Ponder hit Rod Owens for a 41 yard touchdown. Dustin Hopkins added a late first quarter field goal and with a 1:37 left in the half Jermaine Thomas ran in from five yards out to send the Noles to the locker room with a 17 point lead at the half. JT added his second rushing touchdown of the day when he scored from 15 yards out with 4:04 left in the game to put it away.

All bark no bite!

It was all Noles all day in Tallahassee today as number 14th ranked FSU beat Georgia like a "dawg". Christian Ponder had another stellar day as he threw for 259 yards and 2 touchdowns but more importantly no interceptions. I would go through the scoring but lets just say the noles dominated every part of this one.

Noles victorious at South Carolina

Game Report Posted: February 01, 2010 00:03

When FSU entered the SEC many speculated that they would not be able to compete at such a high level as in the past. So far those critics have been all but silenced. Another stomping this time against the Gamecocks of South Carolina. FSU dominated the game and once again proved they can play defense just like any other SEC team. Now they will try not to have a let down against Navy with a visit to Gainseville looming 2 weeks away. This wont be just any visit though, this time it's for a spot in the SEC title game.

Noles start strong with home win against Virginia.

Game Report Posted: January 27, 2010 04:25

Behind a strong performance on the ground from Jermaine Thomas the Noles took advantage of 3 Virginia turnovers (2INT's and 1 recovered fumble). Christian Ponder had an adequate game throwing 2 touchdowns and 1 interception which was not really his fault. The defense was led by Markus White with 7 tackles and a sack. Dustin Hopkins hit his first 2 career field goals with a long of 45 yards.

Noles get to 4-1 (2-1) behind another stingy defensive performance!

March 10, 2009

Game Report Posted: January 30, 2010 04:13

FSU gets yet another great defensive performance while quarterback Christian Ponder starts to really put whole games together. The day did not start out great however when Jermaine Thomas fumbled the opening kickoff after a nice return. The FSU defense would get the ball right back after a solid hit on the quarterback caused the ball to float in the air right to an FSU defender. CP then threw a nice 6 yard TD pass to Rod Owens. Later in the first Thomas would score from 17 yards out on a nice run. Ole Miss found a wrinkle in the second quarter when they scored on a 16 yard run by Eason out of their wild rebel package. The two teams would trade field goals before Dustin Hopkins would hit from 35 yards out to send FSU to the half with a 10 point lead. The only score of the 3rd quarter came on a 9 yard pass from Ponder to TE Caz Piurowski. FSU would add a field goal while the Rebels scored on an irrelevant 74 yard pass by the backup quarterback.

Hurricane Killers!

October 10, 2009

Game Report Posted: January 30, 2010 06:56

The Seminoles downed the Hurricanes behind a once again stellar defensive performance. Christian Ponder was not too shabby himself going 25 of 32 for 267 yards and 2 TD's. FSU once again scored on the first drive of the game when Ponder hit Taiwan Easterling for a 6 yard touchdown. The noles extended their lead to 14-0 in the second quarter when Jermaine Thomas ran in from 1 yard out. In the second half Ponder struck again when he hit Richard Goodman for a 25 yard touchdown strike. Miami finally got on the board when Jacory Harris hit L. Byrd for a 9 yard touchdown. FSU capped off the scoring when surprisingly the fullback Matt Dunham got a rare carry that he took in for a 17 yard touchdown.

Noles don't allow letdown versus Navy...on to Gainsville!
