2006 Week 1

Warm up game much?

The Illini came into this game not expecting to much from the 1AA Midwest Dragons. This game was more so to stretch their legs out, run some plays and get ready for the task at hand. They have a tough schedule up ahead of them, so its only right that they start off the season in huge fashion for the thousands of fans at Memorial Stadium.

The starters played the first half of the game, and it showed as the game was basically over at halftime. Brasic and Thomas provided us with what will hopefully be a glimpse of what is to come all season long, as they took turns burying the Dragons. The second unit is where the most eyes were, because the future of the program was on the field. Isiah "Juice" Williams took the second half snaps, he started off a lil rocky with his first three passes off the mark but he then connected on his next four, including 1 for touchdown (as well as a rushing TD from 60+ yards out).

The Illini would end with 9 touchdowns, 4 on the ground and 5 in the air. If they can put up just half of that against Rutgers next week the Illini will be well on their way for changing the face of the Big 10 conference.
