Morelli throws 4 INTs as Illini pull off second upset of year
Despite gaining more total offense and total yards than the Illini, the #10 ranked Nittany Lions of Penn State (6-2, 3-2) struggled mightily to score as Anthony Morelli threw 4 interceptions as the Illini (6-2, 3-1) won their third straight game, 27-14.
Morelli went 15-for-27 for 182 yards, 1 TD and 4 INT. Two of his interceptions gave Illinois prime field position and led to decisive scores.
Jody Ellis had a breakout game for the Illini, making 6 catches for 152 yards, including a 73 yard bomb that took the wind out of Penn State's comeback attempt.
Illinois is bowl eligible for the first time since a trip to the Sugar Bowl in 2001.
