A Former Big East Rivalry in the Snow

November 13, 2010

Game Report Posted: September 12, 2009 22:46

The conditions for the game were atrocious with snow and the temperature at 14 degrees. Pitt looked great their 1st drive behind (SR) QB Bostick who diced up UMs defense with precise short passing for a FG. UM came out real conservative their 1st drive in these horrid conditions and ran the ball very effectively. (JR) J. Harris only had 1 pass attempt on the 1st drive. Cooper ran hard mostly up the middle on UMs opening TD drive. Pitt was able to pass effectively on their 2nd drive but, once again UM held them to a FG. Harris wasn't really able to get a passing game going in the 1st half but did find TE/MLB A. Brown for a 64yd TD reception. Miami went into the half leading 14-13.

The 2nd half was a different story as Coop wasn't able to dominate on the ground anymore and Miami was forced to pass. J. Harris would throw three 2nd half INTs before being benched for C. Smith. Bostick kept the passing game going as he would throw his 82nd TD pass a new school record. Pitt was even able to get the running game going and that spelled doom for UM.

Miami was able to keep the game close despite a 4 turnover deficit in this game. J. Harris has 2 TDs and 7 INTs in his past 2 games and C. Smith who is 3rd on the team's depth chart will get the start next week @ Virginia. With a win Miami should qualify for the ACC Championship game against Clemson.

Best Game of the New Decade?

September 11, 2010

Game Report Posted: February 08, 2009 09:08

A double OT thriller at the Horseshoe was surely and ESPN Instant Classic. This game was back and forth throughout. UM stuck to their ground game of recent years. They have even added the option to the playbook. C. Cooper in his Sr. senior has the opportunity to start and he shined. Graig showed the nation that he may be the best RB in the country. He rushed for 223 yards with 3 TDs. Also, he caught 5 passes for 54 yards.
Miami had 4 TOs which probably cost them a shot at winning this game in regulation. Both teams had problems in the red zone only converting TD 3 of 7 times.

Led by Telemaque the "U" win big at home

Game Report Posted: February 20, 2009 23:02

FSU scored on their first drive and UM reciprocated with a score of their own on their first drive. The score was 7-7 after the 1st quarter and it looked like another classic may go down. UM opened up their passing in the 2nd quarter and scored with 3 TD passes. UM really broke FSU's back when speedster Kevin Davis was matched up with a LB on a 4-wide set. He was wide open on a seam route in the slot and scored with 11 seconds left in half to give Miami a 28-7 lead at the half.
Miami converted an amazing 13 of 17 3rd downs.
Telemaque had 5 tackles and interception return of 31 yards to lead the defense. Marve had 14 completions with 5 of them being for a TD. Coop had another solid game with 115yds. A. Brown has stepped into the backup TE position and had a TD reception.

UM pulls out a defensive dogfight; may lose Marve for the rest of the season

Miami comes into this game off two impressive wins against #24 FSU and @23 GT but, still not getting any respect from the polls. UM was ranked #18 in both of those games and comes in ranked #18 against UNC. Both teams could not eclipse 300 yards of offense. With only 1 turnover by UNC this was a true defensive battle. Miami only attempted 17 passes this is partly due to the dislocated elbow sustained by R. Marve in the 3rd quarter. Best case scenario he will be able to return for the bowl game. UM was able to execute 61% of their 3rd downs, though they were 0-3 on 4th down. G. Cooper carries 36 times for 137 yards. S. Spence had a great game for the defense with 5 tackles, 3 of them in the backfield and INT.
