The next possession, New Mexico scored a touchdown on 4 and goal to tie it. Both quarterback Sederrick Murray and his counterpart scored quickly on run plays in the first overtime. After another round of touchdowns, the Lobos settled for a field goal in the third period. San Jose State made the win with a walk-off score by Jerod Brown. Murray was named national player of the week, accumulating 502 yards of offense and seven total touchdowns in the game.
