Spartans Rally in Triple Overtime Shootout
San Jose State, down 21 points in the third quarter, engined an enthusiastic comeback. The games didn't begin in its favor, with the first half including a fumble in the red zone and a missed field goal. Down 24-3 in the third quarter, the Spartans kept it close until a scoop and score by Jay Tucker tied it with 2:11 remaining. The next possession, New Mexico scored a touchdown on 4 and goal to tie it. Both quarterback Sederrick Murray and his counterpart scored quickly on run plays in the first overtime. After another round of touchdowns, the Lobos settled for a field goal in the third period. San Jose State made the win with a walk-off score by Jerod Brown. Murray was named national player of the week, accumulating 502 yards of offense and seven total touchdowns in the game.
