2 Golden Eagles Get Drafted

Former players Sean Hill (QB) and Will Crawford (SS) will both have the opportunity to continue their football playing careers in the league. Both players were selected in the 7th round.

Sean was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Will was drafted by the New England Patriots.

This is the third consecutive year Southern Miss has had at least one player be selected in the NFL Draft.

Crazy End to the Season for the Eagle

The Golden Eagles end their 2015 year in some dramatic fashion. They had to rally back in both their conference championship and bowl game to pick up some big wins.

They did it without their two top wide receivers in Mike Rawlins (Broken Hand) and Kyle Andrews (ACL). Despite their absences though, the Southern Miss receiving core picked up the slack. In the bowl and conference championship game they snagged 62 passes down for a remarkable 834 yards and 7 TDs.

Standout performer of the Year was Senior QB Sean Hill. Sean threw for a shade under 3700 yards and tossed 37 TDs. In addition to that, he also ran the ball on the ground for almost 600 yards and 8 more TDs.

Next year will be a great year, but the recruiting hasn't gone as smoothly as coach Wilkerson wants it to go. So far they have only picked up 5 players which is very low given the time of year.

Good Start on Recruiting Trail

Southern Miss finally signed their first recruit of the year, and it was a great pick up. The Golden Eagles couldn't have asked for a better way to start their 2015 recruiting class than with a 4-star prospect.

Southern Miss picks up Wesley Lester (Ocean Springs, MS). Lester is listed at 6-2, 271, and is rated by the 24/7 scouting service as the #6 best center out of the entire recruiting class.

Lester will compete right away for a starting spot on the line, and they don't plan to redshirt him.
