Game Report Posted: October 11, 2013 04:29

UNLV roared out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back, winning by 25 points in their penultimate regular season game. Junior QB Jared Lebowitz ran for the game's first TD and threw for four more, twice to RS Freshman Adam Goode and once each to RS Sophomore RB Joseph Ajeigbe and RS Junior linebacker Iggy Porchia, who was filling in at TE late in the game. Ajeigbe also added a rushing touchdown to the final tally.

Rebels defeat Aztecs in thriller

After trading points back and forth for the entire game, UNLV went ahead by 1 with an early fourth quarter TD Pass from Jared Leibowitz to Adam Goode. They scored another TD with 1:14 left on a 9 yard run by Joseph Ajeigbe and decided to go for the kill, completing a 2-point conversion to go up by 2 scores. It proved handy, as the Rebels' defense held the Aztecs off long enough to score a TD with 4 seconds left, allowing them essentially no time to score again even if they had recovered the onside kick (which they didn't). UNLV finishes the regular season with a sparkling 11-1 record (7-1 in conference play) while San Diego State falls to 6-6 (5-3).

Rebs rally again to knock off Idaho

It once again wasn't pretty, but UNLV pulled another one out late, outscoring Idaho 17-8 in the fourth quarter to win, 31-25. Two big plays from Sean Alfred (57 yard TD run) and Dennis Boyd (38 yard TD catch) helped the Rebs, as they struggled to put long drives together against a surprisingly staunch Idaho defense.

Rebels rally for 6th straight win

Game Report Posted: October 08, 2013 05:23

Another week, another come-from-behind victory for the Rebels. This time it was in the hands of backup QB Troy Hawthorne (RS JR), as RS SR starting QB Nick Sherry was injured in the fourth quarter. While he threw a red zone interception on 4th and short early in the 4th quarter, Hawthorne rebounded to string together a series of runs (including a 23 yarder on 4th and 10 where he stepped just over the outstretched arms of the defender).

Kenny Keys intercepted a Chris Kelly pass in the end zone with 1:08 remaining in the 4th quarter to cement a comeback win. UNLV dominated the time of possession battle, holding the ball for just over 26 of the game's 36 minutes, but threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in Clemson's territory to end promising drives. Clemson's red zone failures (4 times in the red zone, 0 TD, 3 FG) were the difference in the game, however.

UNLV led off with a 10-0 lead and never looked back, scoring in every quarter for a three TD victory. Much of the excitement for this season has revolved around first year head coach Sean Hogan and his new offensive system, but it was the defense who won the game today, holding Colorado to 133 total yards and forcing two turnovers. QB Nick Sherry had two short rushing touchdowns for UNLV in the second quarter and RB Joseph Ajeigbe tacked on one himself in the third.

After defeating quality opponents in their first two road games of the season, UNLV barely defeated Wyoming in their third (and first road conference game). While a TD with 12 seconds left brought Wyoming to within 3, it was UNLV who roared back with a late comeback, needing a 28-0 run from 3:49 left in the 3rd until 45 seconds remaining in the 4th just to take the lead in the first place. Nick Sherry threw five interceptions but ran for two TD's and threw for another to get the win.

Third string QB stuns rival Nevada on Hail Mary

Game Report Posted: October 09, 2013 02:51

After losing starting QB Nick Sherry for weeks due to a shoulder injury and backup QB Troy Hawthorne for latter part of the fourth quarter due to a knee sprain, third string QB Zach Lumpkin threw a 33 yard Hail Mary pass to RS FR Zach Cox as time expired for a 28-21 thriller. After Nevada tied the game with 2:29 remaining in the fourth, the ball changed hands four times before the ultimate drive.

Rebels finally fall, 44-28

Game Report Posted: October 09, 2013 04:15

After stringing 7 wins together to start the year, the Rebels finally dropped a game. Fresno State went ahead 17-0 to start the game and never really looked back, going up as much as 30-14 into the fourth. While UNLV brought it to just a one possession deficit with 7:46, RS JR Troy Hawthorne costly interceptions that led to two straight Fresno State TD drives, clinching the game for the Bulldogs.

Alex Harris kicked a 29 yard field goal in the first overtime to take the lead and the fumble recovery gave UNLV the win.

Game Report Posted: October 10, 2013 04:21

UNLV's 38-21 victory over NM State wasn't much of a contest. 2 of NM State's 3 TD's were on fluky long plays and UNLV's third string QB Zach Lumpkin started and threw 3 TD passes.
