Rebels defeat Aztecs in thriller

After trading points back and forth for the entire game, UNLV went ahead by 1 with an early fourth quarter TD Pass from Jared Leibowitz to Adam Goode. They scored another TD with 1:14 left on a 9 yard run by Joseph Ajeigbe and decided to go for the kill, completing a 2-point conversion to go up by 2 scores. It proved handy, as the Rebels' defense held the Aztecs off long enough to score a TD with 4 seconds left, allowing them essentially no time to score again even if they had recovered the onside kick (which they didn't). UNLV finishes the regular season with a sparkling 11-1 record (7-1 in conference play) while San Diego State falls to 6-6 (5-3).

It once again wasn't pretty, but UNLV pulled another one out late, outscoring Idaho 17-8 in the fourth quarter to win, 31-25. Two big plays from Sean Alfred (57 yard TD run) and Dennis Boyd (38 yard TD catch) helped the Rebs, as they struggled to put long drives together against a surprisingly staunch Idaho defense.

Another week, another come-from-behind victory for the Rebels. This time it was in the hands of backup QB Troy Hawthorne (RS JR), as RS SR starting QB Nick Sherry was injured in the fourth quarter. While he threw a red zone interception on 4th and short early in the 4th quarter, Hawthorne rebounded to string together a series of runs (including a 23 yarder on 4th and 10 where he stepped just over the outstretched arms of the defender).

Kenny Keys intercepted a Chris Kelly pass in the end zone with 1:08 remaining in the 4th quarter to cement a comeback win. UNLV dominated the time of possession battle, holding the ball for just over 26 of the game's 36 minutes, but threw two interceptions and lost a fumble in Clemson's territory to end promising drives. Clemson's red zone failures (4 times in the red zone, 0 TD, 3 FG) were the difference in the game, however.

UNLV roared out to a 21-0 lead and never looked back, winning by 25 points in their penultimate regular season game. Junior QB Jared Lebowitz ran for the game's first TD and threw for four more, twice to RS Freshman Adam Goode and once each to RS Sophomore RB Joseph Ajeigbe and RS Junior linebacker Iggy Porchia, who was filling in at TE late in the game. Ajeigbe also added a rushing touchdown to the final tally.
