Deacons Blast Bears in Opener, 41-7

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons got off to a slow start, but pulled away from the host Baylor Bears in the second half, as Wake won 41-7.

Running back Josh Adams led the way with four touchdowns for the Deacons, including a 33-yard gain off a swing pass on 4th-and-2 in the first half. Adams broke the game open in the third quarter with a 62-yard run, and then a 50-yard scamper. Adams had 148 rushing yards on just 16 carries.

The Deacons' defense took advantage of an overmatched Baylor squad, forcing seven turnovers and six sacks. Chip Vaughn led the way defensively with 6 sacks and 2 interceptions.
