It was pretty average through the first half with Wake leading 24-21. The 2nd half got ugly for Wake as Vanderbilt was able to shut down Wakes run game. Early in the fourth Vandy went up 35-24 and things looked bad for Wake. A miracle happened on a long pass to Hampton which was caught and taking in for a touchdown. Wakes onside kick didn't bounce their way. All Vandy had to do was run the 0:30 off the clock and they had a win. Wake Forest stopped Vandy using all 3 timeouts. Vandy punted it to Allen with 0:12 left and up 35-30. With amazing blocks and eye-popping moves Allen returned the punt to win it for Wake 37-35. This was an incredible game.

Things started off horrible for the Demon Deacons as the Cornhuskers intercepted 2 passes and made the score 14-0. A few nice runs boosted Wake's confidence and made the game 14-7. Allen, last games hero, returned a punt making it 14-14. Wake intercepted a pass, and scored on the following drive to make the game 21-14 Wake. On Nebraskas next drive Wake forced a fumble and returned it to make the score 28-14. Still in the 1st quarter, Nebraska finally ended Wake's scoring run to make it 28-21. Nebraska scored in the 2nd to make the score 28-28. Wake scored on a 48 yard run in the 3rd to make it 35-28. Wake forced a fumble and scored on the following drive on a short pass play making it 42-28. Wake made a 56 yard field goal to go up 45-28. Allen returned another punt to make the game 52-28 Wake was pulling away. The Demon Deacons forced another fumble, and then scored again on the following drive to make the game 59-28. Wake intercepted a bad pass and scored on a huge 86 yard run making the score 66-28. Wake scored on another run and made the scotr 73-28. Wake ran the clock out to end the game. Wake Forest is looking very good at the beginning of the '06 season

The first half was almost exactly even for both teams and was 14-14 at half. Wake intercepted a pass at the end of the 3rd, and scored on the following drive to make it 21-14. ECU answered back with a long pass that resulted as a touchdown, and made the game 21-21. Allen scored on a short run up the middle, and made the game 28-21 Wake early in the fourth. Wake forced a safety toward the end of the game making the score 30-21. ECU muffed a punt and Wake recovered it, but was held to a field goal which they missed keeping the score 30-21. ECU was unable to score and the final was 30-21 Wake.
