Air Force Improves to 4-3

The Falcons gave up over 300 yards passing but still managed to win in a shoot-out with BYU today. While the defense showed little improvement forcing only 3 punts on the day, the offense, with the exception of the line, was clicking.

The Falcon offensive line was horrendous, allowing 6 sacks and being called for 4 false starts. Despite their lackluster efforts, Carney & Company managed to put up impressive numbers, as the Falcons rushed for 194 yards and passed for 308 more. For the first time all season, the Falcons didn't turn the ball over, which also helped lead to a 45-28 win.

The game wasn't settled until late in the 4th quarter, when Air Force held the Cougars to 3-and-out after taking a 10-point lead. The Falcons then showed the most heart they've shown all year, sustaining a drive lasting 4:30 that was capped off with a 12-yard touchdown run by Justin Handley with 1:35 left to go.

"We couldn't block a thing in the first three quarters, but I'm proud of our O-line for coming through with that late drive in the 4th." Hemmen said afterward. "I hope that improvement is a sign of things to come."

Air Force faces Army next weekend, then has an uphill battle, with every team remaining having no fewer than two losses, including undefeated and #1-ranked Notre Dame.
