Air Force Starts Fast, Hangs on to Win

The Falcons are 3-0 after almost giving up a 35-0 lead to their rival, the Rams of Colorado State. Shaun Carney, despite throwing two picks and being sacked five times, had a career day, throwing for 394 yards and six touchdowns. The Falcons took an early 7-0 lead on the first drive, capped off by a 3-yard Carney TD pass, and would go on to score on 4 more passes to take a 35-0 lead to the 56-second mark of the 2nd period. CSU managed to take a glimpse of hope into halftime, scoring on a 58-yard pass 17 seconds later.

The second half was all CSU, as the Rams scored 21 unanswered points to close to within 7. But with the game on the line, Falcon QB Shaun Carney calmly marched his team down the field and finally answered with a 21 yard TD pass to Evans with a minute left in the game. The 14-point lead would prove to be too much for the Rams, but they still wouldn't go away quietly. QB #16 threw a 12-yard TD pass to TE #89 to again close to within 7 with 21 seconds to go, but the ensuing onside kick was covered up by the Falcons, and the game was decided.
