2006 Week 2

A series of reversals marked the opening quarter. Norfolk fumbled on its first possession of the game, but RB Dendy Lewis, after a string of nice runs, fumbled the ball back to NSU at the 2 yard line. On the next play, however, sophomore LB Clarence Fuller blitzed through a gap and brought down the Spartans' halfback in the end zone for a safety. UAPB capitalized on the free kick with a more careful march to the end zone for the 9-0 lead.

NSU bounced right back to keep the contest tight, as NSU burned the slow UAPB secondary with a long throw for a TD. But UAPB continued to hammer away at the Spartan 3-3-5 with the running game, and started laying the boom down with play-action. WR Matthews hauled in 7 catches that went for 150 yards. With the NSU defense now stretched out, UAPB found even more success with the ground game, and RB Dendy Lewis finished the day at over 100 yards.

Both defenses forced turnovers during the game. Norfolk was driving deep in the red zone late in the game when corner Keith Scott intercepted a Spartan pass near the goal line. UAPB ran out the clock to seal the win.
