Slaughter sets school record for passes caught.

Season Report Posted: September 05, 2008 16:00

Wide receiver Chris Slaughter caught 79 passes shattering the old school record of 59. Slaughter returns for the 2010 campaign and is looking to build on his fabolous junior season.

Beginning of the Future

Season Report Posted: September 04, 2008 18:15

The Auburn Tigers 2009 season started with 8 straight wins culminating in a Cotton Bowl victory over Kansas. While the season was considered successful, the loss of QB Burns with an abdominal strain definately strained the Tigers as injuries began to take there toll. The Tiger eventually found there way to the conference championship game and a BCS bowl bid, both firsts for Coach Tylerd02. Coach's next challenge will be to take the Tigers farther, with 16 seniors on next years team expectations should be high again.

Coach Tylerd02 was known for his recruiting mastery and that hasn't stopped here. The coaching staff welcomes the #2 rated recruiting class by ESPN.com with two 5 star players both on the defensive side. The Tigers bring in an impressive 14 players in the ESPN top 150. Coach Tylerd02 highlighted 3 freshman he thinks will make huge contributions in the future:

1)Matt Johnson #1 DT (9 overal) - A beast on the defensive line, should command double teams and could be a sack threat in the middle.

2)Paul Carrie #12 WR (50 overal) - Athletic freak, standing 6-7 should be a deep threat with speed who can jump over anything. We should be able to just throw it up there and tell him to go get it.

3)Marcus Allen #8 CB (124 overal) - Fast and physical. Can keep up with any receiver and should be a shut down corner in the future. The next big thing at Auburn.

2010 should be a great year. Auburn is now in position to compete for a conference championship every year and the cabinet is now stacked. Coach Tylerd02 is looking for a break through year. The year of the Tiger is coming.

Starting QB Kodi Burns lost for season

Season Report Posted: August 19, 2008 18:10

Athens, GA- The Tigers lost their chance at the perfect season, but more importantly they lost their starting quarterback Kodi Burns. Burns went down in the fourth quarter with a bruised sternum. The training staff took him to locker room and it was later reported he will be out for 11 weeks, effectively ending his season. The Tigers went on to loss to the Georgia Bulldogs 16-25. Senior backup QB Chris Todd proved ineffective throwing 2 interception and was unable to move the offense the second half. Coach Tylerd02 was left with a big question mark on who will quarterback his team. Todd has proven ineffective in multiple appreances this year but only freshman lie behind him. This weeks practice will probably not sort things out. Luckily for the Tigers Army is next on the schedule which should provide a chance to evaluate other quarterbacks in a game situation. Todd is illsuited for the spread option and freshman lack experience. Coach TylerD02's plan calls for Freshman DeRon Furr and Todd to split reps in practice with Todd starting the game and Furr coming on in relief the second half. What was a dream season for the Tigers has quickly turned in the nightmare situation unless Coach Tylerd02 can find a quarterback.
