Season Report Posted: August 07, 2011 15:31

With less than one month before the season, fans have begun to wonder if Dade County is ready for the challenge of division 1-A football. Dade County was build in eary 2010 and had less than two years to find players for the team. Head Coach Xavier Boxx isn't concerned. "We are going to shock a lot of people this year." One reason for that confidence is the signing of Boxx's younger brother Antonio Boxx. The number 4 rated prospect shocked the nation when he signed with the newly started Dade County. "You know how the saying goes, blood is thicker that water," explained the younger Boxx. Even with the signing, the Pirates still have many unanwsered questions. Most of the roster is filled with transfers from Division 1-AA and even Division III players. Xavier Boxx even held a tryout in Florida for guys 17-23. The Pirates will have all road games this year to top things off as their stadium "Davy Jones' Locker" is being built. With all those thing piling on top of Xavier Boxx's shoulders, he should have a long season ahead of him.

Dade County Background

August 7, 2011

Season Report Posted: August 07, 2011 15:21

In November of 2009, 32 year old JaVonte Adams of Miami-Dade, Fl won the mega lottery. It was the largest lottery in USA history, worth 750 million dollars. In a move that shocked many across the US, Adams used his money to build a new University in the middle of Dade County. "We need a school that these kids can go to to get off of these street'" explained the 32 year old. Adams is also a avid Miami Hurricanes fan. He however, has stated he doesn't like the direction "The U" has gone in in recent years. "Miami use to be known for their swagger, now they are know for losing." Adams decided he was going to build a football program that will compete not only with the likes of Miami, but also the likes of Florida State, Florida and USF. After receiving enough money from boosters to build a fancy stadium, Adams was suprisely supporting by the NCAA Commitee. Shockingly, the committee allow DCU to start in Division 1-A in 2011.
Over the course of those three years, Adams has named Xavier Boxx his coach. The former Miami Hurricane runningback had his career cut short to a grusome leg injury. Adams also gave the school the Pirates nickname because "like pirates we are going to come and take over college football." Adams also named himself the athletic director over the program. While that all sounds great, the Pirates biggest concern are the players on the time.
