Tigers Upset Vols!!!
On a rainy afternoon in Knoxville, the Dillon Tech Tigers were able to pull off a major upset over the Volunteers at Neyland Stadium. Freshman quarterback Matt Saracen had a stellar performance in his collegiate debut despite being knocked out of the game late in the 3rd quarter. Runningback Smash Williams also had a great day going over the century mark and adding a touchdown. The Tigers were able to pull ahead of the Vols with only a few secound left on the game clock. Backup quarterback Andrew Jean lead the Tigers down the field on the team's final possesion and connected with WR Jared Dawson on a quick slant in the back of the endzone for the go ahead score.
After the game Coach Mike Leech talked about the program's first victory. "I couldn't have even imagined coming into Knoxville and playing the way we did today. Our defense played an amazing game and they really made it easy for our offense to keep up and put us in a position to win the game at the end. Our offense also played really well despite dropping a few key balls on third downs. We didn't turn the ball over and we were able to win the time of possession battle. This win definately gives the program a huge boost and hopefully we can ride the momemtum of this victory for the rest of the season."
