2009 Week 4

It was a wild finish to an exciting high scoring game between Dillon Tech and the Navy Midshipmen. While the Tigers started out slow and went into halftime trailing 14-7, the second half was a different story as both sides went back and forth scoring a combined 49 points in the second half. Late in the fourth quarter with only 27 seconds left on the clock, Navy pulled ahead 35-28 with a 3 yard touchdown run. The game looked all but over when the Tigers regained possession at their own 33 with 18 seconds left to play. The Tigers came out in a 4 receiver set and sent all 4 receivers streaking down field. As the secondary dropped back into coverage, one of the safeties seemed to have blown his coverage and Matt Saracen was able to connect with slot receiver Travis Lowery over the middle and he was able to outrun the secondary for a 67 yard touchdown reception. This tied the score at 35 with only 8 seconds left to play. In overtime, Navy took possession first and were only able to come up with a field goal. On the Tigers second play of their possession, Smash Williams lined up in the wildcat formation and took off up the middle for a 16 yard run and score to seal the victory for the Tigers.
