Bengals squeek out victory in Tulsa

ISU made the trip to Tulsa, OK, to play Tulsa in the final game of a 3 game road trip. Tulsa would get the ball first and drive down the field, ending the drive with a 35 yard FG from Graham. ISU would fumble on their next drive, and Tulsa would get another FG from Graham to make the score 6-0 in Tulsa's favor.

ISU would answer to start the second quarter, with Josh Barnett scoring from 3 yards away to give ISU a 7-6 lead. After Tulsa was forced to punt, Tony Houston missed a 49 yard FG, while led to a 23 yard TD from Johnson to WR#84, the first of 3 TD connections for those two in this game. ISU would be forced to punt in their next possesion, but Josh Coleman would intercept a pass in the ensuing possesion, leading to another Barnett TD from 2 yards out to give ISU a 14-13 lead at the half.

ISU would get the ball to start the second half, but Sean Norton would be intercepted, and it would be returned 90 yards for a TD by SS#37. Tulsa went for the 2 point conversion, and made it to make it a 21-14 game. But Norton was unrattled by the pick 6, driving the team right back down the field, scoring on an 8 yard pass from Norton to Jerome Johnson to tie the game at 21. Tulsa would punt on their next possesion, but Norton would throw his second interception of the quarter to OLB#8 late in the quarter, but the score at the end of the quarter remained 21-21.

Tulsa would capitalize on the interception in the 3rd quarter when the 4th rolled around, with a Johnson to #84 connection to give Tulsa a 7 point lead. ISU would come back with a TD of their own, from Norton to Willie Pino to retie the game. Tulsa would throw an interception on their next possesion to MLB Kevin Hill, and Norton would find FB Kieth Lohse for a 6 yard TD to give ISU the advantage. Tulsa would be forced to punt, but Barnett would fumble the return, leading to a Tulsa player recovering. Johnson would find #84 for their 3rd and final conncection for a TD on the day to tie the game. But ISU wouldn't go away. They drove down the field and with 1:01 left on the clock, Tony Houston would hit a 20 yard FG to give ISU the lead. Tulsa attempted to make a comeback, but Kevin Hill would again intercept a Golden Hurricane pass, giving ISU a 38-35 victory.
