ISU enjoys trip to Hawaii... oh yeah, they won a game too!!

ISU took a trip this week to warm and sunny Hawaii, and they also played a football game against the Hawaii Warriors. ISU got the ball first, and they got a TD from Josh Barnett on a 3 yard carry. Teams exchanged punts after that, leading to OLB Craig Holling intercepting a pass for the Bengals. But the Bengals didn't get to enjoy the momentum for long however, as SS#17 intercepted Sean Norton's pass and returned it 97 yards for a TD to tie it up. Al Miranda would get an INT late in the quarter, but the score at the break would be 7-7.

ISU would turn that Miranda INT into points in the 2nd quarter, with Barnett scoring on another 3 yard run to extend the lead. Hawaii would punt twice, while Norton threw another pick, but ISU caught a break when Norton's Hail Mary pass to end the half was caught by Lui Scott for a TD to make the halftime score 21-7 ISU.

Hawaii got the ball to start the 3rd quarter, and they would get a 23 yard FG from K#99 to close the gap. ISU would drive down the field after that, but Norton would throw his 3rd pick of the game to CB#29, who would take it back for an 82 yard TD, to close the gap to 4. Both would punt once, and that would end the 3rd quarter with a 21-17 score in favor of ISU.

ISU would punt to start the 4th quarter, but Hawaii would fumble early in their possesion, and Craig Holling would fall on it to give ISU the ball back. They would have to settle for a 37 yard FG from Tony Houston to extend the lead to 7. Both teams would exchange punts in their respective possesions, but Hawaii would get a big play after that, getting an 80 yard TD from QB#6 to WR#5 to tie the game up. Barnett would fumble on the next possesion, with Scott falling on it for Hawaii, and it appeared that Hawaii might be able to take their first lead of the game. But their hopes were dashed by Sharrod Davis, who picked off a pass and took it back 81 yards to give ISU the edge 31-24. Hawaii would try to come back on the next possesion, but Zach Estes would essentially put the icing on the cake with an INT. ISU would get a 47 yard FG from Houston late to put the game away. Final score 34-24.
