Kunkel Gets First Win Against Rival

New Head Coach Kurt Kunkel lead Idaho State into his first game against rival Idaho. ISU would get the ball first, but former Oregon corner Sharrod Davis would make his presence felt on this ISU defense, making an interception, which would lead to former Fresno State QB Sean Norton finding Freshman Lui Scott for a 15 yard TD to take a 7-0 lead. Idaho would get a bit of a drive going after that, but CB Al Miranda would make another pick, which led to a 6 yard Josh Barnett TD, making the score at the end of the first quarter 14-0 ISU.

Idaho would drive down the field after that score, and get on the board in the second quarter with a 20 yard pass from QB#11 to WR#86. That would be all the points that they would get. Norton found Scott again for another TD on the ensueing drive, followed by a Josh Barnett TD from 13 yards, and one from 2 yards to make the halftime score 35-7 ISU.

The 3rd quarter was quite uneventful, with both teams exchanging punts for a majority of the period. Late in the quarter DT Claude Collins would recover a fumble, and the score remained 35-7.

The Collins FR would lead to Chris Seals scoring on a 6 yard TD. Idaho would be forced to punt, and ISU would run out the rest of the clock, giving them a 42-7 victory.
