The Hoosiers opened the 2006 season with a bang. James Hardy set a school record with 308 receiving yards on 10 receptions. Hardy also scored 5 touchdowns on the day 4 receiving and one on a record setting 85 yard punt return.

Blake Powers completed 18 of 23 passes for 399 yards and 6 touchdowns. Reshirt freshman, Justin Carrington, had a good debut running for 78 yards on 18 carries.

Indiana held the Broncos without a first down until midway through the third quarter. Western Michigan's only score in the first quarter came after an Indiana fumble deep in their own territory.
