We knew there was going to be a repeat so why even put Texas in the National Championship again with Iowa? For the FANS to ENJOY, that's why!
This wasn't even a challenge for Iowa as was the first game when they blew away Texas 58-0. At least Texas scored this time around.
Stats were ugly as Iowa had 556 yards of total offense. Rushing for 444 yards and passing for 112 yards. They were 7-14 for 3 passing touchdowns. McNutt's stats gave him a 159.3 QB Rating for the day.
Jevon Pugh was Player of the Game and it showed with his 34 attempts for 386 yards and 3 touchdowns. The longest of those runs came in the fourth quarter when Pugh had a 91 rushing yard touchdown breaking the NCAA record for longest rushing touchdown. McNutt added 58 yards on the ground and ran for 2 touchdowns.
Wide Receivers had a good day as David Blackwell caught three passes for 38 yards and a touchdown. Franklin Newby had 1 reception and a touchdown and Jonathan Gimm had a reception for 15 yards and a touchdown.
It took Iowa' Coach Pelini just three years to win a National Championship for Iowa. It might have been only two had Iowa not lost to Notre Dame the week before the Bowl game.
Final Score #2 Iowa 56 #1 Texas 10
