Streaks to Continue into Next Year for Iowa

January 9, 2010

Season Report Posted: October 05, 2008 18:28

Iowa averaged a crowd of 65,386, had a perfect season of 13-0 and kept some other streaks alive. Coach Pelini's current win streak is at 27 straight wins which is also his longest win streak. He's had two winning seasons. His record vs. Top 25 teams are 11-0, Rivals 7-0, his impressive Bowl record of 2-0. He has won two Conference Titles: 1-Big 12 and 2-Big 10 and he has won 1 National Championship as his first year coaching the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He looks to improve that number to two National Championships as he looks to take Iowa into the main event next year barring all the idiots from the Coaches Poll keep them from going.

#10 Iowa 'Bowls' Over #5 Virginia Tech

Game Report Posted: October 05, 2008 18:23

The #5 VT Hokies were no match for the pumped up #10 Iowa Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes decided to bring out their running game and run all over the Hokies racking up 354 yards on the ground. 221 of those yards were from the Heisman Winner HB Nathan Guillroy who added all of Iowa's touchdowns. QB Ricky Stanzi was impressive as he added 132 yards on the ground.
With the win the Hawkeyes moved up in the polls to #5 in the Coaches Poll, #2 in the Media and #3 in the BCS. Coach Pelini was very happy with this year's squad and hopes to start being ranked in the polls next year in hopes of a National Championship run.
Pelini has turned down a 6-year extension on his contract with the Iowa Hawkeyes and also turned down two job offers from Michigan and #16 Auburn. His intentions are to win a national championship with Iowa and then move on to coach the college he graduated from, the University of Northern Iowa where he'll spend at least three plus years on trying to get the team even close in rankings.

#12 Iowa Beats SMU and Awaits Bowl Game Invite

Game Report Posted: October 05, 2008 02:05

The Hawkeyes took care of business as they beat the SMU Mustangs with ease. The defense helped in the victory as they recorded a NCAA record of 16 sacks in a game! Since the Coaches Polls disrespected Iowa, they took away any chances of making it into the National Championship game even though Iowa went through the season with an unblemished record.

#12 Iowa Will "Practice" Against #107 SMU Mustangs

Season Report Posted: October 02, 2008 20:12

Week 14 of the ESPN Magazine says it all. "WHERE'S THE LOVE? Just what does Iowa have to do to gain some respect in the polls?". The Coaches Poll has been very bad towards Iowa and knocking them out of a possible contention for a National Championship. The Media Poll has the Iowa Hawkeyes at #4 and the Coaches have the Hawks at #12 which averages them out in the BCS at #7. Had the Hawks Coaches Poll ranking been closer to the Media Poll, the Hawks could be at a #3 or #4 in the BCS with a chance to play in a National Championship game. The current Bowl prediction for Iowa is pitting them against #3 Arizona State in the Rose Bowl game.
